Teacher - Children of The Woodlands
Lead Teacher
School Year 2025 - 2026
Summary: Support mission statement, guiding principles and school philosophy. This position is responsible for providing the best possible care for our children.
Essential Functions: Support mission statement, guiding principles and school philosophy. Provide the best possible learning environment for children assigned to the class, and to work for the best interests of the school. Create and maintain a classroom setting that meets accreditation expectations and/or minimum standards. Must be a committed Christian comfortable sharing their faith with children and families.
Relational Leadership
- Support mission statement, guiding principles and school philosophy.
- Provide the best possible learning environment for children assigned to the class, and to work for the best interests of the school.
- Create and maintain a classroom setting that meets accreditation expectations and/or minimum standards.
- Email weekly newsletters to parents.
- Schedule parent conferences twice a year and be available for additional conferences as needed or requested.
- Cooperate with Sunday morning teachers and others who share the room.
- Cooperate with the Director of Preschool and other staff in those activities involving the whole program.
- Inform an administrator in cases of unreasonable behavior, parent complaints, or other problems which should be handled by administration in the best interest of the school.
Strategic/Operational Leadership
- Make daily plans in keeping with the philosophy of the program and the needs of children assigned.
- Email lesson plans to Age Level Advisor and the Director a minimum of one week in advance.
- Work directly with children to meet individual needs.
- Care for rooms and equipment; report items needing repair or replacement and submit requests for additional equipment.
- Keep individual records for each child as specified.
- Arrive in time to have classroom ready and be prepared for students prior to devotion time each day.
- Plan with and clarify expectations for the Assistant Teacher and any support staff or volunteer who may be assigned to the class.
- Meet licensing, accreditation and school requirements for in-service training and professional growth in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as requested.

- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education or a related area.
- Early Childhood teaching certification is highly preferred.
- Three years of experience working with children is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team, as well as work independently.
- Must be a committed Christian comfortable sharing their faith with children and families.
- Must meet licensing requirements, which includes fingerprinting and an extensive background check.
Physical Demands
- This position requires sitting, standing, lifting, reaching, and crawling.

- Schedule: School Year 2025 – 2026
- Two schedules are available:
- Schedule One: Tues, Wed and Thurs.
- Schedule Two: Mon – Thur.

As is typical for ministry, this position requires a flexible schedule. Additional hours for special events required
