WOODLANDS WEATHER THIS WEEK – July 17 - 21, 2023 – The only thing missing is a Sandworm or maybe some Jawas
THE WOODLANDS, TX – Once again, we’re facing a week of heat that may not be unprecedented but is nonetheless soul-crushing. The National Weather constantly issues and extends heat advisories like pleas for donations during a PBS telethon, and the Woodlands Online Weather Team has toyed with just summarizing the report as “Just stay inside until Saturday,” but we have decided to stick it out with you and give a full forecast.
Flat-out desert-like conditions will dominate this week
For today, our pressure system has hit its high of 30.04 inches and will ooch down for the rest of the day until it hits its low around sundown and then crawls its way back up. This is occurring under blazingly hot and cloudless skies as we hit a high temperature of 102, with another seven degrees or so added on as a heat index, thanks to a humidity that refuses to back down. Our overnight low of 78 won’t even hit until sunup tomorrow morning; we’ll effectively be in the 90s and 80s the entire night.
Tuesday will see another steaming day with a few clouds to offer scant cover, with another high over 100 and a low that’ll be a degree warmer than the night before. The lack of coolness at the night is preheating the ground to make every morning feel warmer than the one preceding it, until we finally get a break in the heat or the clouds bring some rains along with him (hint: no chance of this until the weekend at the earliest).
At the risk of repeating ourselves, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be weather clones of each other, with skies ranging from partly cloudy to cloudless, natural high temperatures of at least 100 degrees with sever more notches in the mercury added in to the heat index, and lows each night the barely get below 80. If you haven’t had your AC tuned up yet, believe us when we say that this is the week to do it.
A glimmer of hope on the horizon: a sudden dip in the pressure Friday afternoon and evening will encourage several more clouds to come out of hiding and cover the area, and as we head into the weekend, we might get some rains and some temps that stay firmly in the mid-90s.
Stay tuned on Friday as we bring you Woodlands Weekend Weather.
