This week seems to have all four seasons rolled into one seven-day period. We’ll start off with our Presidents Day holiday Monday springlike enough but rapidly digress into frigid winter conditions for a couple of days, and eventually work our way back up to near-summer weather by this time next week. Keep an eye on changing conditions when you consider heading out to one of the great events happening throughout The Woodlands; here’s a list of some of our faves.

Monday, February 17
If you need to spend any time at the office and can’t bring the little loved ones with you, there are a couple of facilities to keep the kids occupied for a couple of hours. Woodlands Sportsplex is hosting a Presidents Day Open Gym from 12 noon - 3 p.m. for kids aged 5-12. The cost is $20 per student.

Monday, February 17
Maximum Athletics is hosting a daytime open gym. It’s the perfect time for your child to expend some energy. At open gym, your child can participate in gymnastics, games, and open gym time. This is a great time to learn a new skill… AND have some fun!

For the entire day, the local YMCA has their own special day for the kids. Camps at the Y share one thing – they are about discovery. Kids have the opportunity to explore nature, find new talents, try new activities, gain independence, and make lasting friendships and memories. And, of course, have fun! For ages 5 - 11.

Author Tiffani Jaqua will be the special guest on Tooth Fairy Day at The Woodlands Children’s Museum at 11:00 a.m. She will read Questions for the Tooth Fairy on stage; and that will be immediately followed by a meet-and-greet, where she will sell and sign her books until 12:15 p.m. Included in the price of admission, which is $9 for adults and children 1 year and older. Tiffani is a graduate of Texas A&M University and earned her master’s degree in counseling from Sam Houston State University. She has worked in education and counseling for nearly 30 years and has written numerous children’s books as well as a collegiate series that includes Texas A&M, LSU, and UT. As a result of her newly discovered passion for writing, she hopes to inspire others to follow their dreams.

Over 3,000 people are experiencing homelessness in Montgomery County. Join The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church in an educational forum, free and open to the public. You will hear from key service providers working with people experiencing homelessness in Montgomery County. Luke Redus from Compassion United, Siomara Rodriguez from the Montgomery County Women's Center as well as service leaders from Family Promise. The panel will lead in discussing the root causes and best strategies for serving so you can more compassionately extend a hand to those who need it most. Through compassion and action, you can make a difference in the lives of the unhoused in our community.
