Weather and family-friendly events this weekend in The Woodlands
THE WOODLANDS, TX – It looks like we’re getting all of the seasons in one extended weekend here in The Woodlands. Thursday night into early Friday morning is the last time for a while we’ll experience frozen temperatures. The weekend will start cool and bright, but rapidly darken and spill rain before it’s over – rain that will last all next week.
On any given weekend, there are so many amazing events for all ages throughout The Woodlands area that it may be hard to cull through them all to find one that’s specifically family friendly. Not to worry; Woodlands Online is here to help with a list of some things you can do this weekend with the entire family and the weather that will go along with them.
Friday
By mid-morning on our last office workday this week, we’ll be above freezing and stay that way for at least the next ten days. The winds, too, will quiet down, getting only up to around 5 mph in the evening. Sunny skies will get us up to about 57 for the high, and we’ll settle around 36 for the low.

Saturday
It seems as if the weather faeries will give you the morning to play around outdoors, but as we creep closer to lunchtime, the rains will come from the dark clouds that will be zooming in. Thankfully, the stiff morning winds will settle down as the rain falls for the rest of the day, so you don’t have to worry about any diagonal or horizontal precipitation. We’ll get all the way up to 63 for a high and 54 for the low.
49th Arbor Day Tree Giveaway at The Woodlands Township Recreation Center
Since 1977 more than 1.5 million seedlings have been shared with residents to plant in their yard, in community open space reserves and in forest preserves. Participate in one of The Woodlands longest standing traditions and help plant trees today for our community to enjoy for years to come. Fortunately, though the event takes place outdoors at Northshore Park, it should end before the rains start in earnest.

‘Big Fish’ at The Woodlands High School
TWHS Fine Arts Department presents Big Fish, the story based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace, and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, about Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest…and then some. Overflowing with heart and humor, Big Fish is an extraordinary musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre – for an experience that’s richer, funnier and bigger than life itself. Final two chances to catch it at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Sunday
It won’t even pretend to be dry on Sunday; the rains will mount and build all night before, and for the entire length of daylight hours – not that you’ll be able to accurately figure them out due to the 100-percent cloud coverage – there will be at least a 75-percent chance of heavy precipitation. Long story short: find some indoor fun today. For what it’s worth, the high will be 65 and the low will be 50.
