The Woodlands, TX -- June 28, 2023- Ardest Gallery will be offering a choose your own coloring book adventure in celebration of National Coloring Book Day on August 2nd. Gallery visitors throughout the day on Wednesday, August 2nd, will be able to choose from among designs created by 12 Texas artists to bring home and color.
National Coloring Book Day recognizes the joy children and adults derive from coloring in pages of designs. The first coloring books were created in the 1880s, although they were considered “painting books,” as crayons had not yet been invented. While they have morphed in style and function over the years, they still offer the same tried and true appeal to both children, and adults.

“National Coloring Book Day is the perfect opportunity for our gallery artists to extend their reach into the community through simple coloring book designs representative of their unique, artistic styles,” said Julie Verville, Ardest Gallery Director. “These coloring book pages are designed to spark joy in whomever colors between their lines.”

The coloring page designs offered will range from contemporary abstract, digital designs, graffiti art, Houston landscapes and westerns. “There will be something for everyone in our range of designs,” said Verville.
Participating artists include: Jennifer Claussen, Robyn Crowell, Allison Fox, M L Huff, Gabriela Klerian, Melanie Wade Leslie, Lauren Luna, Jeff Lung, Leslie Kell, Chalda Maloff, Michele Patton, and Julie Sanderson.
In addition celebrating National Coloring Book Day, and because our fine arts gallery believes in fostering creativity for all, we will be offering financial support as a percentage of sales throughout this event to an organization co-founded by one of our resident artists Lauren Luna, called the D.R.E.A.M. Affect Foundation. The Foundation is dedicated to the realization of economic art mobility, providing financial support in the form of scholarships and grants to provide worthy students of color the funding needed to attend art school.
