HOUSTON, TX -- Lone Star College has named Virginia M. Fraire, Ph.D., LSC-University Park President. Fraire will be the second president to oversee the LSC-University Park campus.

“This is an exciting time for Lone Star College,” said Stephen C. Head, Ph.D., LSC Chancellor. “Dr. Fraire’s expertise in higher education will ensure we continue to advance equitable student outcomes.”

Fraire has nearly 30 years of experience in higher education at two-and-four-year open-access institutions and most recently served as vice provost for student success and strategic initiatives at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where she provided leadership and overall management to academic programs and faculty serving transitioning students, benefiting approximately 5,000 students annually.

“I am confident Dr. Fraire will continue our commitment to having integrity, strong leadership, respect and accountability to Lone Star College students and employees,” said Head.

Before her tenure at UTEP, Fraire served in multiple leadership roles at Austin Community College. As the campus dean and the district’s vice president of student affairs, she led 30 student and academic support units across 11 comprehensive campuses serving approximately 70,000 students.
