Village Books Introduces New Storytelling Competition in the Woodlands
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Are you a natural raconteur? Do your friends never stop you if you say “Stop me if you’ve heard this one before”? Do you never let the truth get in the way of a good story? Well, Village Books, an independent bookshop located in The Woodlands, has a competition for you. Introducing Village Books’ First Annual Storytelling Competition! Storytellers compete monthly, with the winners in January, February and March going on to compete at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival to be festival’s official Story Weaver. The first competition is Sunday, January 28 at 3 p.m. at Village Books, 9955 Woodlands Parkway, Suite F, The Woodlands.
The storytelling competitions will continue throughout the year—with quarterly “championships.” The final competition will be held in December 2024. At that time, each quarterly winner will compete for the title of the official Village Books Story Weaver of 2024!
“I wanted to do a year-long event that would help to celebrate The Woodlands’ 50th Anniversary this year! Storytelling seemed like a natural fit for a bookshop,” said Village Books owner, Teresa Kenney. “We will once again be bringing Books on the Green to The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, so we are thrilled to include the contest at this treasured local event.” Each competition will be held at Village Books, and you do not need to compete to attend the event. “Just come out to hear some great stories,” said Kenney.
