THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On June 24, 2024, Detective Walker and Captain Acosta with Constable’s Ryan Gable’s Criminal Investigation Division were invited to a roundtable discussion hosted by United States Senator Cornyn. The discussion was in reference to “The Project Safe Childhood Act”. This bill reauthorizes the Project Safe Childhood program through 2028, in addition to modernizing and updating the program. Specifically, the bill clarifies key definitions to help investigators differentiate between different kinds of offenders and different kinds of crimes. The bill also requires the Attorney General to coordinate with the Internet Crimes Against Children task forces and victim-focused organizations to develop best practices for the investigation of online sexual exploitation crimes.

The bill goes on to specify that program funds can be used to train federal, state, or local law enforcement to investigate and prosecute child exploitation and abuse, as well as develop district-specific strategic plans for how to best investigate these crimes. Lastly, the bill makes important technical clarifications to empower law enforcement to target offenders who commit multiple crimes, both online and in person, and take advantage of trusted relationships to carry out criminal behavior.

Constable Gable’s investigative team will continue to hunt those who chose hunt our children.
