THE WOODLANDS,TX - - As we continue our collective recovery from the impact of Hurricane Beryl, here are some reminders and updates from The Woodlands Township to ensure everyone stays informed and safe. Your cooperation and patience are key as we work together to rebuild and restore our community.

Power
We are beginning to see progress as Entergy and CenterPoint continue their efforts to restore power. Both companies sent out messages that they expect 50 percent of their customers to have restored power by end of day tomorrow (Wednesday, July 10, 2024). In addition to monitoring the outage websites and signing up for alerts, please follow the providers on social media for additional updates.

Keep generators at least 20 feet away from your home.
Ensure the exhaust is pointed away from windows and doors.
Never run a generator inside your home or in enclosed spaces like garages.

Trash and Recycling Service
Waste Management is collecting trash and recycling today. This week’s service is delayed by one day. Please be patient. There are streets that are still blocked and there is likely to be heavier collections than normal. If you experience a missed pickup, please leave your container curbside. Waste Management will be monitoring the missed pickups and will provide service as soon as they are able.

Monday's pickup will be on Tuesday.
Tuesday's pickup will be on Wednesday.
Wednesday's pickup will be on Thursday.
Thursday's pickup will be on Friday.
Friday's pickup will be on Saturday.
If your street or container is blocked, but you are able to place your trash container next to the container of a neighbor who is not blocked, you may do so. Make sure the bins are spread far enough apart, usually four feet, so that the truck can pick them up.

The Woodlands Recycling Center will be open tomorrow, July 10, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. and is located at 5402 Research Forest Drive, behind the Bear Branch Recreation Center. Household waste is not accepted, and items must comply with guidelines. Montgomery County Precinct 3 Recycling Center, 1122 Pruitt Road 77380, is also open for green (vegetative) waste only. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed 11:30 to 12:30 for lunch. Montgomery County residents only.

Damage and Debris
County governments are activating their storm debris removal contracts to assist residents with clean up. We will share this information as soon as it is made available. Until this information is made available, residents should separate yard and vegetative debris from construction debris. Do not mix these items. When placing items curbside, avoid putting debris on the road or in ditches to prevent blocking traffic or drainage. Please be patient as the debris removal process may take some time to complete.

As you clean up and plan for repairs to your home and property, please keep in mind the following information.

Take photographs of the damage and contact your insurance company.
Report damage to the Texas Department of Emergency Management by completing the Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) Damage Survey. Submitting this form is not an insurance claim. You will still need to submit a claim through your insurance company.
Prep yard debris for collection. Please follow Waste Management's guidelines for disposing of yard waste.
Prep bulky items for collection. Please follow Waste Management's guidelines for bulky pickup.
Fallen Trees
Due to the high sustained winds over several hours, there are numerous downed trees and debris throughout the community.

If a tree has fallen on your home or vehicle and you need emergency assistance, please call 9-1-1. DO NOT call 9-1-1 if it is not an emergency. The Fire Department will not remove trees from your home or property.
Report fallen trees that are blocking roadways to Montgomery or Harris County.
Harris County Precinct 3 | 713-274-3100
Montgomery County Precinct 2 |281-259-6492
Montgomery County Precinct 3 | 281-367-3977
Montgomery County Precinct 4 | 936-597-4444
Residents may report fallen trees from Township property onto private property through the 311 web portal or by emailing 311@thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov. Town Hall phone lines are currently unavailable. Please provide a detailed description so we can efficiently enter and prioritize the work order into our system. While the Township is not responsible for trees that have fallen onto private property, we may clear them as a courtesy.
It is the homeowner's or property owner’s responsibility to remove trees that have fallen onto private property.
Emergency crews continue to clear roadways as they are able. If you submit a request, please be patient. The high volume of requests may result in a delayed response.

Township Facilities and Services
Due to the community-wide power outages, Town Hall will remain closed through Wednesday, July 10, 2024, and all non-essential services remain suspended. Park crews are currently assessing park and swimming pool damage. Park bathroom facilities remain closed. Township swimming pools will not open until damage assessments are complete, repairs are made and power restored.

Community Meetings
Residential Design Review Committee meetings are cancelled for the remainder of the week. Tonight’s Alden Bridge Village Association meeting is also cancelled as Town Hall is closed.

Heat Advisory
Please drink plenty of water, limit outdoor activities during the middle of the day, wear light clothing and sunscreen and check on family and pets.

In The Woodlands, a cooling center has been set up at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 26777 Glen Loch Drive. The cooling center is located in the church event center and residents should use the south entrance. Red Cross signage is visible at this entrance.
