THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce is putting out a call to the community to join it in supporting the Project Beacon access center.

The Chamber C.A.R.E.S. Committee, formerly the Community Relations Team, completes monthly community service projects or donation drives to serve nonprofit Chamber members. This team is responsible for producing the annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon in April during National Volunteer Appreciation Week.

The Chamber is hosting a supply drive for educational programs for adults with autism and other neurodiversities on behalf of Project Beacon, a locally based nonprofit organization that strives to build a community of belonging where adults with autism and other neurodiversities can play, learn, work, and live through its tailored programs, to help them grow to their highest level of appropriate independence.

“Help us empower and educate; we are collecting essential supplies to support our life skills classroom for adults with autism,” said Kelly Baughman of Project Beacon. “Your generous contributions will help enhance the learning experience and provide the necessary skills for our participants to thrive.”

Particularly needed items are pens and markers, art supplies, hygiene products, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies, educational games and puzzles, and crafts supplies such as cutting boards, laminators, scissors, and velcro.

To donate, drop off items at the Chamber offices during business hours. Alternatively, you can purchase from Amazon Wish List at https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/DTXPF9WB63Y1 and ship it directly to Project Beacon at 502 W Montgomery St. #540, Willis, TX 77378.
