THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At the Children’s Safe Harbor capital campaign luncheon held Friday, March 28, 2025 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott, it was announced that Houston Mayor John Whitmire officially proclaimed the date of March 28, 2025 as “Children’s Safe Harbor Day” throughout the city of Houston. The proclamation was read aloud by Houston City Council Member Twila Carter, who presented a framed proclamation to Victoria Constance, PhD, Executive Director of Children’s Safe Harbor. It recognized the non-profit’s outstanding work toward fostering a community where children can thrive free from abuse.

“We are honored to receive this incredible recognition from Houston Mayor Whitmire, as it significantly reaffirms our mission to bring justice, healing, and hope to children in need in the Greater Houston region,” said Dr. Constance.

The capital campaign luncheon raised funds for Children’s Safe Harbor’s new, expanded 45,000-square-foot facility, set to open in the fall of 2025, which will nearly double the size of the children’s advocacy center’s existing space. The luncheon honorees were Kim and Robert Marling of Woodforest Charitable Foundation, who have been major supporters of Children’s Safe Harbor since 2009.

Children’s Safe Harbor’s mission is to achieve justice, healing, and hope for every child victim of severe physical abuse, sexual assault, child sex trafficking, neglect, and trauma, and to engage the community in that mission. As a nationally-accredited, nonprofit children’s advocacy organization serving the counties of Montgomery County, Walker County, and San Jacinto, as well as Harris County. Children’s Safe Harbor is part of a nationwide effort to heal the trauma and facilitate justice for abused children ages 2 through 17 and their families.

Children’s Safe Harbor is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. For more information, visit www.ChildrensSafeHarbor.org.
