THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Over 800 Montgomery County families in need received free groceries, hot meals, and goodies for kids at the H-E-B Summer of Sharing event held June 29, 2024 at Woodforest Bank Stadium in Shenandoah, Texas. Through its Summer of Sharing initiative, H-E-B has held distribution events in several cities across Texas, and Montgomery County was fortunate to be one of the stops again this summer. The mega mobile distribution was made possible by the collaborative efforts of H-E-B, Conroe Independent School District and Montgomery County Food Bank.

H-E-B cooked up hot, delicious meals via their mobile kitchens and provided food for 1,500 families in need. Any groceries that were not distributed on site are now being shared through the Food Bank’s network of over 80 partner agencies, ensuring that families continue to receive the food they need. Conroe ISD once again offered for the event to take place at Woodforest Bank Stadium and helped advertise the event to its students and families in need. About 100 dedicated volunteers from H-E-B, Conroe ISD and the Food Bank selflessly braved the heat to serve their community.

“Giving back to the communities we serve and battling hunger throughout Texas is at the core of who H-E-B is as a company. That is why we created Summer of Sharing, to serve families and, especially kids, with good, nutritious, kid-friendly food. We also added summer fun activities to take home and prepare kids for the upcoming school year,” said Danny Flores, Sr. Manger of Hunger Relief at H-E-B. “We are very proud of our longstanding partnership with the Montgomery County Food Bank and look forward to continue working with them in the fight against hunger.”

"We are immensely thankful to H-E-B for once again bringing the Summer of Sharing to Montgomery County,” said Kristine Marlow, President and CEO of Montgomery County Food Bank. “Their commitment to our community has provided food for about 800 families this year. We also deeply appreciate the unwavering support and coordination of Conroe ISD, without whom this event would not have been possible. This collaboration is a testament to our collective strength. The dedication and compassion of our volunteers displayed true teamwork and a deep care for our neighbors facing hunger this summer. Together, we are stronger and have made a true impact on the lives of many children and families in need.”

"Partnerships like the one Conroe ISD has with H-E-B and Montgomery County Food Bank are what help make this a great community," Dr. Curtis Null, Superintendent of Schools for Conroe ISD, said. "We are able to impact far more families together than we can on our own, and this is truly a special event for our area."
