SPRING, TX -- North Houston’s City Place is gearing up for fall with an exciting lineup of family-friendly activities throughout September, all taking place on and around the community’s central Plaza at 1250 Lake Plaza Drive – Spring, TX 77389.

In addition to stylish accommodations, guests who use booking code YQ1 will enjoy 20 percent off food & beverage at the hotel’s SwitcHouse Plates & Pours restaurant, plus late check out at 1pm.

To preorder visit www.thepeachtruck.com, enter zip code 77389 and select City Place. Twelve pounds boxes are priced at $45 each.

The fun continues September 14 from 10 am to noon as Mr. Leo Puppet Show brings his pop-up puppet bus to create an unforgettable, playful and imaginative adventure for children during free, interactive performances incorporating puppets, marionettes and magic.

A new addition to the City Place programming calendar, the Houston Humane Society Wildlife Center will host complimentary workshops that teach children how to preserve, protect, and coexist with urban wildlife. The interactive and engaging programs will take place September 15 and 22, with sessions starting at 9:30 and 10:45 am.

On September 21 starting at 7:30 pm, Pix on The Plaza will showcase an outdoor screening of the classic family film, Matilda. Complimentary slices of the movie’s famous “Bruce Bogtrotter’s Chocolate Fudge Cake” will be available while supplies last. Blankets and low profile chairs are welcome.

In its ongoing commitment to presenting innovative, site-specific public art installations, City Place has commissioned Austin-based artist and musician Steve Parker to create a new experiential journey for guests. The pop-up piece “Invisible Music” utilizes repurposed brass instruments to orchestrate a symphonic meditation on nature in picturesque City Place Park. The sculptural brass pieces are re-engaged to a soundscape adapted from French composer Eric Satie’s “Furniture Music” and set against a sonic backdrop of nature sounds, including insects, birds and bats, within native fauna and flora. Additionally, a series of interactive sculptures placed in the greenspace surrounding the pond can be activated by participants, altering the overall musical composition. Open to the public and free of charge, “Invisible Music” can be experienced daily from 7 am until 10 pm through September 15.

City Place's ensuing art installation, “As Water Falls,” will make its debut on September 28. Designed by artist Daniel Iregui from Montreal-based digital art studio Iregular, the multi-faceted piece functions at the intersection of art and technology as a large-scale, virtual waterfall with an accompanied soundscape. This is the first time “As Water Falls” will be realized in a cube format with four virtual ever-changing displays, as well as the first time the piece will be interactive by touch, allowing participants to alter the digital cascades. The installation will be open to the public and free of charge daily from 7 am until 10 pm September 28 through November 10, and will be best experienced after sunset.
