THE WOODLANDS, TX – The second annual Climate Champions Youth Art Contest has just been announced, and organizers have put out the word for local students to prepare to submit their art for a worthy cause starting in October.

Paul Eakin, co-founder of Climate Canaries, is producer of the art contest and other events. He is a high school junior as well as a performing fiddler and competitive golfer. Paul wants to build youth awareness of climate change and provide an outlet for expression through the organization’s programs.

If you are or know a grade school student who enjoys drawing and would like to become a Texas climate champion, the annual Climate Champions Youth Art Contest is a competition for grades 1 through 12 that encourages students to express their thoughts and solutions for climate change through the power of art. The organization is reaching out to students to encourage their participation, as well as to schools, climate organizations, and libraries across the Lone Star State to build awareness.

For students who wish to submit their art, become an ambassador at their school, or join the team, the ClimateChampions.earth website has all the details. Schools, libraries and organizations can request posters, bookmarks, social media graphics, and general info at info@ClimateChampions.earth. Contest submissions begin October 7, and the submission deadline is November 18. Winners will receive cash prizes and their artwork will be featured in news articles. All students residing in Texas – public, private, and homeschooled – are welcome to participate.

The Climate Champions Youth Art Contest debuted in 2019 as a pilot with the Louisiana State Library system’s 160 libraries as well as public schools and homeschool organizations. The contest was featured in the hometown newspapers of the contestants. Celebrity judges have included an Academy Award-winner and other prominent figures in art, music, sports, and literature. This year, the contest is working with top climate and environmental organizations, including the Environmental Defense Fund.
