HS Football: College Park Secures Crucial Win Over Grand Oaks

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The College Park Cavaliers (2-2) defeated the Grand Oaks Grizzlies (3-1) in a crucial win at Woodforest Bank Stadium on Friday Night.

College Park struck first with a 23-yard touchdown pass to Clint Rachal who was wide open in the endzone.

Grand Oaks answers back on the very next drive to tie the game at seven. Ty Rupe and Devon Wallace made huge plays to contribute to the score.

Eight seconds into the second quarter Camden Hughes, quarterback for College Park, decided to keep the ball and rush for a 54-yard touchdown giving the Cavaliers the lead again.

On the next possession Grand Oaks marched down the field but was stopped on a third down and eight forcing them to kick a field goal. Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, the Cavaliers were able to cut through the line and block the attempt.

College Park would start their drive but Hughes would be picked off by Kevin Ross, giving Grand Oaks another attempt to put points on the board.

A couple of plays later Grant Smith would find Julien Kent in the endzone. This would be the last score of the first half as the Cavaliers and Grizzles head to the locker room tied up at 14.

Coming out of halftime, College Park would once again strike first giving them a 21-14 lead.

On the kickoff after the touchdown College Park would end up knocking the ball loose and gaining possession once again from the Grizzlies.

This would result in a Marco Beltran touchdown giving the Cavaliers a two possession lead with 3:18 left in the third quarter.

Grand Oaks would battle for another touchdown but College Park would hold them off in the fourth quarter.

College Park would close out this matchup with a 28-14 victory over Grand Oaks.

As Grand Oaks takes their bye week, the Cavaliers will host the Willis Wildkats next Friday at Woodforest Bank Stadium.
