THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Grand Oaks (4-2) faced Conroe (5-0) in a crucial matchup; Grand Oaks needed the win to remain a contender for a playoff position, while Conroe needed the victory to maintain their spot at the top of the district.

The game kicked off with both teams demonstrating strong defensive strategies. Despite the defensive battle, the Tigers managed to break through with a 70-yard touchdown by Senior Christian Nunley.

The Grizzlies responded with a touchdown of their own in the second quarter, by Senior Preston Cloud.

The intense showdown energized the Grizzlies' student section. Decked out in school colors, the students erupted in cheers and chants that the Tigers couldn't rival.

The Grizzlies' offense came alive at the end of the quarter, with Junior Grant Smith throwing a 39-yard pass to Julian Kent, ending the quarter with the Grizzlies at the 1-yard line.

Starting the final quarter, Junior Grant Smith rushed the ball in for a 1-yard touchdown, bringing the Grizzlies within 3 points of the Tigers and reigniting their hopes for a comeback.

Despite the newfound hope from the Grizzlies, the Tigers managed to score another touchdown, courtesy of Senior Christian Nunley. The quarter concluded with three minutes remaining when Senior Dramecko Green secured another touchdown for the Tigers ending the game 31-14.

Next week Conroe will host the Willis Wildkats while Grand Oaks takes on Oak Ridge in the Battle of the Oaks.
