MCTX Sheriff Arrests Willis High School Student for False Alarm

WILLIS, TX -- On October 2, 2024, a 14-year-old student from Willis High School was arrested and charged with making a false alarm after an incident during a class change. While students and staff were in the hallway, the student yelled, “I have an AK-47 in my bag.” Several witnesses, including students and staff members, reported the incident to the school administration and identified the student responsible. The Montgomery County Attorney accepted the charge of False Alarm or Report, a state jail felony, and the student was transported to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center.

False alarms or threats of violence are taken very seriously. It is illegal to communicate false reports about emergencies, including bombings, fires, or other threats that can incite panic or result in emergency responses. Making false claims can have severe legal consequences, including criminal charges and long-term repercussions for the individual involved.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the community that threats to a school, even in jest, are no laughing matter. Such actions disrupt the learning environment, cause fear, and strain school and law enforcement resources. We urge parents to have conversations with their children about the seriousness of making threats, whether real or false, and the potential life-long consequences they may face as a result.
