Happening Now: Heavy Police Presence Pursuit Ends at I-45 and West Road

HOUSTON, TX -- UPDATE: At approximately 2:15 PM, members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, assigned to the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, were attempting to apprehend Joseph Jebbia, 43-years-old, on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrant out of Montgomery County. When deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect, with a blatant disregard for human life and the safety of others, began to evade law enforcement.

During the pursuit, preliminary information suggests that Jebbia ran a red light and subsequently struck another citizen's vehicle, causing a chain reaction that resulted in the vehicle being driven by Jebbia hitting a pedestrian waiting at a bus stop. Tragically, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries on the scene.

The suspect continued his reckless evasion, leading law enforcement on a dangerous chase until he eventually crashed near Millwood and Highway 249. Upon his arrest, deputies discovered a loaded rifle, body armor, and drugs in the suspect's vehicle. Jebbia is currently being transported to the Harris County Jail.

Joseph Jebbia is a career criminal with a history of violence. His actions today demonstrate a complete and reckless disregard for the lives and safety of others, directly resulting in the death of an innocent pedestrian.

Joseph Jebbia had an active warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon stemming from an incident in Montgomery County on June 14, 2024. During this incident, Jebbia shot his girlfriend in the chest with a firearm before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, Jebbia's girlfriend survived her injuries. Although deputies were unable to locate Jebbia on the night of the offense, a warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest. Today, the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force successfully located and attempted to execute the arrest warrant for the aforementioned charge. However, Jebbia recklessly evaded officers, resulting in the loss of a human life.

Heavy Police Presence in the area of I-45 and West Road due to a vehicle pursuit involving Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office units. The pursuit has now ended and the suspect is in custody. There is no ongoing threat to the public at this time. Please avoid the area to allow first responders to work.

Montgomery County units were attempting to stop a wanted felony suspect who recklessly attempted to evade capture and caused a collision. Unfortunately, this collision resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
