Visit The Woodlands Announces New Chairman and $10M in Hotel Tax Collections

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Visit The Woodlands Board of Directors held its Annual Meeting on Thursday, January 16, 2025 and announced for the first time in history, The Woodlands Township has topped the $10 million mark in hotel tax collections.

The $10,361,256 in collections is the most in The Woodlands history by the 14 hotel properties that contain 2,250 hotel rooms on a daily basis.

“What an extraordinary year,” remarked outgoing Chairman Brad Bailey. “Our board and staff demonstrated exceptional drive and ingenuity in executing bold marketing and sales strategies to attract convention groups, corporate meetings, and leisure travelers to The Woodlands. The impact of these efforts was reflected in our record-breaking hotel tax collections and I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done.”

Bailey, who has served as Chairman for two years, said “Hotel taxes, sales taxes and mixed-use beverage taxes make up nearly 60% of the overall Township. Tourism dollars are very, very important in The Woodlands Township in order to keep taxes low for our residents.”

At the Annual Meeting, the directors voted in Linda Nelson as its Chairman for 2025 during its Annual Meeting, held Thursday, January 16, 2025.

Additionally, the Board named other directors and officers including Vice Chairman Richard Franks, Secretary / Treasurer Jenny Taylor, Director Brad Bailey, Director Jennifer Gohagan, Director Cameron Klepac, Director Kim Lowe, Director Monique Sharp. The board also voted to name Nick Wolda in an officer role as President.
