THE WOODLANDS, TX -- LOVE Week at The Woodlands Christian Academy (TWCA) is a beloved campus-wide initiative to encourage growth in faith and to foster fellowship that solidifies the message that Christ’s love is best mirrored through loving others and acts of service and kindness. This week, the entire student body (Pre-K to 12th grade), faculty, and staff came together to celebrate love, kindness and positivity.

The week commenced with TWCA’s Chapel Worship Team bringing the High School students and faculty together in praise. Then, Christian social media influencer Jonah Wiley (@the.bible.teacher) spoke specifically and intentionally to our high school students. Aaron Marez, Coordinator of Spiritual Development, introduced Wiley as someone unrelenting in his desire to authentically and realistically present the gospel of Jesus Christ. That is exactly what Jonah did when he spoke candidly about his own life while emphasizing that God will do things for good and glory even if we may not know the reason “why”.

“Jesus doesn’t always give answers as to why things happen. But He says in the Bible, it happens for the glory of God. He promises that God will do something with it that points to both your goodness and His glory,” said Wiley. “God makes a reason for everything that happens.”

Further encouragement for the high schoolers came throughout the week with topical breakout sessions with faculty and staff, as well as speaker/musician, Austin Lanier (@atrainlanier) who discussed identity in Christ through his personal testimony and words of encouragement. Students were lifted up as Lanier sang and invited everyone to sing with him a couple of his songs that “raised the roof” in the Micah auditorium and empowered everyone with messages of confidence and love.

While there was a significant High School emphasis on LOVE Week activities, Middle and Lower School students showed the ‘LOVE’ as well throughout this week. Middle School students focused their Christ-like love on service by challenging the houses to a competition to bring in non-perishable items for the House of Joy Food Drive. The five Middle School Houses have been competing to earn the most house points, with each donation being worth one house point. But, with Middle School’s collective heart for a good competition, all houses won with their acts of service by donating more than 7,700 food items!

Lower School enjoyed LOVE Week by continuing a focus on their Kindness challenge. Each day, Lower School Principal Patty Bruha challenged the students with a specific task to show kindness. These included writing a kind note to a teacher, giving someone a hug, picking up trash, and memorizing and reciting 1 John 4:7. Friday’s challenge to tell someone “thank you” was in full effect during fun Valentine’s Day parties for LS students. And Pre-K students went “Beyond the Walls” during LOVE week spreading kindness and love by visiting a local assisted living facility to pass out Valentine’s card, sing songs, and pray over their residents. The littlest Warriors were such bright lights for Jesus and shared His love.

The week culminated with a High School service project. The student’s spent their Friday afternoon packing more than 59,000 meals for Haiti with Mission of Hope. LOVE week emphasized the TWCA community’s willingness and calling to serve others.

Love abounds at The Woodlands Christian Academy, not only during the annual LOVE week activities, but also throughout the entire year!
