HS Boys Basketball Playoffs: Cavaliers Prepare for Regional Finals Following Dominant Display
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- College Park sets its sights on higher ground in the Regional Finals against Mesquite Horn following the Cavs' suffocating 60-39 win over Wylie East on Tuesday.
Despite close games in their first two rounds that were won by a combined score of five points, the Cavaliers locked in during their Regional Semifinal game against Wylie East.
The usual suspect of Aiden Buckmon, who had posted 20+ point performances in the first two playoff games, had the weight of the team's scoring taken off his shoulders through a lethal guard-to-big combo of Ian Inman and Jacob Oman.
Inman secured strong praise for his 19-point outing that kept up the team's expected quality of guard play. While opposing defenders were worrying about Inman and College Park's perimeter, Oman feasted on the outmatched Raider defenders by scoring a team-high 20 points and an astonishing 16 rebounds, 11 of which were on the offensive glass.
The opportunities for second-chance points were plentiful for the Cavs throughout the game. Evan Mason also cleaned the glass by snagging 15 rebounds himself, further tipping the power balance to College Park's side in a game that the Cavs dominated in a 60-39 final.
Now the Cavs will get ready for another road trip for their Regional Final matchup against Mesquite Horn. The game is set to tipoff at 7:30 in Lufkin, but the mileage is nothing new for the College Park program that has invested time and effort into traveling great lengths to put its players against quality opponents.
With how hot the Cavs were in their last game, it might be good reason to suspect the same quality of play from players, a program, and a coach as well seasoned as they heve been.
