Duckstache Hospitality Announces Opening of Kokoro Handroll Bar in The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- After opening three new concepts in three short months, Duckstache Hospitality is poised to continue its unprecedented “roll” with the launch of Kokoro Handroll Bar in The Woodlands Town Center on Monday, March 10. This is the first time Texas will see a new iteration of the Houston sushi favorite since its recent evolution in Dubai.

Kokoro, which means 'heart' in Japanese, promises an intimate dining experience where guests can interact directly with expert sushi makers crafting nigiri, sashimi, handrolls, and crudo. The concept originated in July 2019 when Uchi veterans Patrick Pham and Daniel Lee established Kokoro inside Bravery Chef Hall. The restaurant quickly became a local favorite, eventually leading to international growth.

In 2022, two of Kokoro’s regular guests, Tamer Elkhayat and Faisal Yabroudi, approached them about bringing the concept to Dubai. They loved the restaurant and had connections that could bring the concept to life across the globe, so Duckastache took the leap.

Kokoro made its Dubai debut in May 2024 on Al Serkal Avenue, then expanded to the Nad Al Sheba Gardens this January. Following a successful launch, the Duckstache team was inspired to expand Kokoro to the greater Houston area.

The Woodlands’ Kokoro will be the fourth outpost of the acclaimed Houston-born sushi concept. Unlike its counterparts, the 24 Waterway location will feature a full bar, offering a curated selection of beer, wine, sake, and cocktails. Tenured Duckstache Hospitality employee Ricardo Ortega will oversee restaurant operations as General Manager.

Starting Monday, March 10, Koroko Handroll Bar will be open in The Woodlands (24 Waterway Ave) every Sunday through Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Reservations can be made via OpenTable.
