We came darned close to breaking 100 degrees for the high temperature today – the thermometer turned around at 99 – but the humidity made it feel like 110 nonetheless. Moderate clouds and the occasional gusty wind helped make those outside feel a little cooler. But don't be fooled; the heat advisories put out by the National Weather Service will last through Tuesday evening at the very least. Tonight, we’ll be in the 90s through sundown and in the 80s for most of the night, settling for an early Tuesday morning low of 78.

On Tuesday, there will be fewer clouds and brighter sun, finally officially breaking the century mark on our thermometers as we break 100 degrees for the high. Ironically, slightly less humidity will make it feel cooler than the day before, and a mild chance of evening sprinkles and clouds will go far in making the area feel more habitable.

On Wednesday, both the ‘real’ temperature and the heat index will be one degree cooler than Tuesday, with some more clouds and perhaps a spate of rain. Fortunately, any wetness in the air and on the ground will help minimize fire risks for the Independence Day festivities for those outside the Township borders setting off fireworks.

July 4, Thursday, will strive to remain outdoor-friendly weather. Partly cloudy skies and a slightly elevated chance of midafternoon rain will jockey with temperatures in the upper 90s and a heat index threatening to get up to 110. In the evening, though, the pressure will take a massive drop, and the clouds will clear in time for you all to catch the amazing professional, official fireworks displays. And even if you’re staying inside that evening, you can still catch our livestream of the event.

Friday, aka ‘the day after,’ will once again see a natural high temperature of 100 degrees with accompanying heat index. Again, clouds and slight chances of precipitation will wander through from time to time, but the skies should be clear enough and the thermometer filled enough to leave no doubt that it’s truly summer. As the week draws to a close, you can expect yet another night with overnight temps in the 80s and not hitting the upper 70s until early the next morning;

As the weekend hits us, however, you can expect a stormy cool front to start pushing through…

Stay tuned to Woodlands Online for our Weekend Weather report coming on Friday.
