Chamber awarded 3 Star Accreditation by U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Conroe, Texas – The Conroe /Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce, after a comprehensive self-review, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has awarded the Chamber with an Accredited status. This prestigious honor puts the Chamber among the top 3 percent of chambers nationwide.
“Receiving this news validates our hard work and efforts. This more importantly sets a benchmark for us to continue enhancing all of our policies and procedures so we can reapply in the future to achieve the highest mark of 5 Stars,” said Scott Harper, president of the Chamber. “Our board of directors and staff are extremely pleased with our progress over the last few years and realize we still have work to do. My hope is our members understand the significance of our accreditation and are proud to be members of an accredited chamber.”
This past year, the staff, board and volunteers of the Chamber spent countless hours completing the Accreditation process. The task was to demonstrate competency in nine core areas ranging from finance to facilities. The result of the hard work is evidenced by this impressive rating.
“The Conroe/ Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce has worked extremely hard over the past few years to earn the 3 Star Accreditation from the United States Chamber of Commerce,” said Chuck Ewart of The Ewart Group, consultant of the Chamber. “The organization, through the strategic planning process, is not only doing the right things, they are doing those important things right, for both the business community and the region in general. The Chamber staff, current and past board of directors and volunteers should be congratulated on this milestone achievement. Only 207 out of more than 7,000 chambers of commerce in the United States have achieved accreditation, placing the Conroe/ Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce among the elite business organizations in the country.”
This is the only national program recognizing chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. Accreditation allows the Chamber to renew, improve and promote sound business practices, policies and procedures.
Local chambers are rated Accredited, 3 Stars, 4 Stars or 5 Stars. State chambers are recognized as either Accredited State Chamber or Accredited State Chamber with Distinction. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members and chamber executives from across the country.
