Hot Dog! Lucy & Gus Dauzat Dog Park Opens at Founders Park in The Woodland Hills
CONROE, TX — (The following is a narrative by Henri, a hound dog/terrier mix, from The Woodlands Hills who was a friend of the late dogs, Lucy and Gus Dauzat.)
Hot dog! It was a doggone good time for dog lovers and canines alike when The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC) hosted a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the new one-acre Lucy and Gus Dauzat Dog Park, situated in 17-acre Founders Park in The Woodlands Hills® on Saturday, October 5. The Woodlands Hills is Houston’s newest master planned community in Conroe and Willis, located 13 miles north of The Woodlands®.
The dog park is named in memory of the late dogs and my friends, Lucy and Gus, whose owners were Roz and Rick Dauzat. The Dauzats won the naming rights in a charitable donation bid that benefited the Montgomery County Community Foundation. The auction item was donated by The Howard Hughes Corporation.
Dozens of pups and their owners enjoyed some tail-wagging fun. We socialized, sniffed and lapped up refreshments and dog treats (pant, pant) after posing for a ribbon cutting photo with team members from Howard Hughes, the Montgomery County Community Foundation and residents of The Woodlands Hills. There were even humans who drew caricatures of us! I think I blinked.
This wonderful park offers residents a space to bring all their dogs together, as well as a separate area for smaller dogs. It has benches for owners to sit and watch us play, doggie drinking fountains, and best of all - lots of trees! It’s truly something to bark about!
My human friend, Heath Melton, Senior Vice President of MPC Residential for The Howard Hughes Corporation said, “We are excited to officially open the Lucy and Gus Dauzat Dog Park in Founders Park in The Woodlands Hills. Our pets are part of our family, and this dog park will bring about an opportunity for our neighbors to gather with their four-legged friends and enjoy a space surrounded by trees and nature, dedicated especially for dogs within The Woodlands Hills.”
