Memorial Hermann goes red for Heart Month to fight the #1 killer of women
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- February is American Heart Month, dedicated to promoting awareness of heart conditions that can affect women. As part of the observation, today is earmarked as National Wear Red Day, which was created to dedicate a day to raise awareness of the risk of heart disease and stroke in women.
Memorial Hermann proudly supports this national initiative and encourages local women to take charge of their heart health. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the number one killer of women, causing one in three deaths each year.
Cardiovascular diseases do not affect all women alike, and the warning signs for women are different than for men.
To mark the day, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center staff donned red attire on February 7 to bring awareness to heart disease, risk factors and what you can do to be heart healthy. Among them was Kinson, the facility dog.
