The Woodlands Township Wins 2025 Texas Gold Medal

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department wins the prestigious 2025 Texas Gold Medal Award from the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS). This distinction is the highest recognition for parks and recreation agencies in Texas, celebrating excellence in recreation and park management.

Each year, the Texas Gold Medal Award is presented to one city or community within five population categories. The Woodlands Township was recognized in Class III, which includes communities with populations between 75,000 and 150,000. The award was formally presented at the Texas Recreation and Park Society Annual Conference in Allen, Texas, on February 27, 2025.

"This award is a testament to our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional parks, facilities and recreational programs that enhance the quality of life in The Woodlands,” says Brad Bailey, Chairman of The Woodlands Township Board of Directors. “We are honored to be recognized among the best in Texas and remain dedicated to fostering a vibrant and active community for all.”

This prestigious accolade highlights The Woodlands Township’s dedication to long-term strategic planning, financial stewardship, and innovative community engagement through parks and recreation programming. The award acknowledges outstanding achievements in recreation and park management over the past three years.

The 2025 recognition marks the Township’s continued legacy of excellence, following previous Texas Gold Medal Award wins in 2002, 2008, 2012 and 2019. This distinction reaffirms The Woodlands Township’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality recreational opportunities and maintaining exceptional park facilities for residents and visitors alike.
