“Our goal is to provide property owners with the knowledge and resources they need to navigate the property tax process with confidence,” said Tammy McRae, Montgomery County Tax Assessor Collector. “These workshops are a great opportunity for taxpayers to get their questions answered and learn about potential exemptions and payment options available to them.”
McRae emphasized the importance of public awareness regarding property taxes, stating, “Understanding your property taxes is crucial for financial planning and avoiding unnecessary penalties. We want to ensure that every taxpayer is aware of their rights, available exemptions, and the steps they can take if they disagree with their assessments.”
In addition to general property tax information, the workshops will include information on homestead exemptions, senior citizen and disabled veteran exemptions, and the appeal process for those who believe their property valuation is incorrect.
“The appraisal process can sometimes be confusing, and many property owners may not be aware of the various exemptions they qualify for,” said Sherry Hunter, Chief Appraiser of the Montgomery Central Appraisal District. “We encourage everyone to attend, ask questions, and take full advantage of the resources available to them.”
The workshops are free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their property tax appraisal notices, statements and any relevant documents to facilitate personal assistance.
