The Celebration of Excellence Gala Honors Six Hometown Heroes While Raising Critical Funds for Interfaith of The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Interfaith of The Woodlands proudly recognized six new Hometown Heroes at the Celebration of Excellence Gala on Friday, February 28th, held at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. With over 600 guests in attendance, the Gala, presented by Woodforest National Bank, successfully raised nearly $650,000 to support Interfaith’s mission of assisting neighbors in need throughout South Montgomery County. These vital funds will provide essential resources for individuals and families in crisis, including food, shelter, clothing vouchers, rent, mortgage and utility assistance, and programs for our Senior neighbors, and more.

Chaired by Julie Lile and Jen McDonald, this year’s Gala was a spectacular evening dedicated to honoring outstanding Hometown Heroes who have made significant contributions to our community. The “Dancing in the Moonlight” theme brought the ballroom to life with a luxe, moody ambiance, dark, elegant floral arrangements crafted by Piney Rose, and chic 1970s-inspired décor, honoring the era in which Interfaith was founded. A heartfelt thank you to our honorary chairs, Mary Anne and Mark Whitney, for their unwavering support and commitment to Interfaith’s mission.

Since 1973, Interfaith of The Woodlands has been a pillar of support for families and individuals in crisis. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we will continue to serve neighbors in need for years to come. Interfaith extends deep gratitude to everyone who attended, our generous sponsors and donors, the dedicated committee members, and the entire community for their continued support.

The tradition of honoring Hometown Heroes began in 1999, the 2025 recipients included four distinguished individuals, and two organizations including: Cathy Brady, Jim Rapp, Jim Wendt, Nick Wolda, Truluck’s The Woodlands and YES to YOUTH. These Heroes will officially join many other distinguished individuals, businesses and organizations as Hometown Heroes recognized for their many contributions to the community, these honorees have each demonstrated exemplary leadership and a dedication to preserving Mr. George P. Mitchell’s vision for The Woodlands community.

The Live Auction was hosted by Hometown Hero Will Murphy, former Interfaith Chairman of the Board of Directors. It featured a variety of exclusive items and experiences, including a Dove Hunt in Argentina, an Omega Seamaster Diver watch donated by Cindy + Slade Lewis, owners of OMEGA Market Street, a Disney vacation donated by Andrew Butler Travel, a chef-curated dinner at donated by Truluck’s, a diamond necklace generously donated by Thomas Markle Jewelers, and much more. Following the program, the Velvet Lounge Afterparty kicked off with an electrifying performance by the Hybrid 7, ensuring the celebration continued well into the night. All proceeds from the evening will support the many Programs & Services of Interfaith of The Woodlands.
