If you were planning a trip to the beach or lake shore to get some suntanning in, this is the wrong weekend to book non-refundable tickets. All weekend long will be grey and gloomy, sometimes raging but always rainy. On the plus side, we won’t even get into the 90s until next week.

About a quarter-inch of rain has already fallen today, but the chances of precipitation are about to peak, so while the wet stuff will continue, it will be lighter and more sporadic. After lunchtime, you can expect the temperature to surge from the 70s all the way up to 83 – with a ‘feels like’ heat index of an additional five degrees – as afternoon wanders into evening into night, with an overnight low of 72 under cloudy, rainy skies. If the weather is stressing you out, head over to Copendero Indoor Archery, Pistol, & Rifle Range for their Full Auto Friday, rent a machine gun, and blast the bejeesus out of some targets to feel better

Saturday before the dawn, you might awaken to some thunder rumbles or claps as the sound of heavier rain hits your window. Another third of an inch will drop, peaking mid morning but hanging around all day. The winds will build to around 7 miles per hour in the mid afternoon but then will quell a bit, so you won’t have to worry about horizontal rain. The high will only reach 80, yet oddly the low will be warmer than the night before at 74, thanks to the blanket of clouds. If the kids are climbing the walls from being stuck in the house, take a family trip to Learning Express Toys and check out their Christmas in July sale event.

While the overnight will be relative still between lessened winds and rains, Sunday morning will be right back to the thundery grind. The winds and the temps will rise at the same time to a mid afternoon peak. As the high hits 85, slowly things will start turning around, and by this time the next day we can enjoy some warmer, brighter, drier weather. If rain on a wedding day is good luck, then take full advantage of the Bridal Open House at The Woodlands Resort.

As next work week hits, you can get back to mowing your yards, but beware the temps back in the mid 90s all week long…

Stay tuned to Woodlands Online for Monday’s weekly weather forecast.
