THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The battle-hardened top four teams from District 13-6A are preparing for the upcoming UIL Playoffs, and many hope to make deep runs that play on their top state rankings.

Multiple contenders from within the tight district standings attempted to make pushes at the last moment to make their way into the upcoming postseason, but only the top four managed to stake their claims.

The unmatched teams at the top were safe in their journeys, but a tie-breaking final game decided the last team to make it.

Here are the top four teams representing District 13-6A in the upcoming playoffs:

1st: Conroe Tigers

Surefire play from the loaded Conroe roster was enough to secure the district championship for the black and gold brigade with only one loss on the district record. Stacked hitting, stellar fielding, and a shutout pitcher have given the Tigers a wide selection of tools to slice through the competition on their way to a potential push as a favorite in the Texas state rankings.

Their play will begin on Thursday against the Aldine Nimitz Cougars, with the first game set to take place at Grand Oaks High School.

2nd: Oak Ridge War Eagles

A handful of tough losses to teams like Conroe and New Caney did not distract Oak Ridge from the ultimate goal of reaching postseason play. Strong stretches against the bottom half of the district, including a combined 34-4 score in two games against The Woodlands, showed that the War Eagles were more than worthy of their runner-up position in the district standings.

Oak Ridge will play against MacArthur, starting Friday at the diamond at Grand Oaks.

3rd: Willis Ladykats

Managing to escape the multiple tiebreakers that forced a play-in game behind them, the Willis Ladykats were fortunate to ride a late-season winning streak to the promised land. Willis' streak of winning seven of their last eight was enough to push the scrappy squad into the playoffs while avoiding the need for a final play in game against teams like Grand Oaks and New Caney.

Willis' first playoff game will be their first taste of play against Eisenhower, with Klein Collins High School set to host at 6:30.

4th: New Caney Eagles

Up and down play from New Caney nearly sank the team's hopes of making the postseason entirely. Burtal losses to Willis, College Park, and the Woodlands ensured the Eagles would be in the thick of it once the postseason started to creep into view. Luckily for New Caney, their sporadic winning secured a spot in a win-or-go-home game against the Grand Oaks Grizzlies, which the Eagles walked away from as the winners.

With their spot secured, they will face Spring High School in a three-game series, which will begin on Friday.
