OAK RIDGE NORTH, TX -- A combined 3-0 shutout by the Oak Ridge War Eagles on Tuesday served as the 200th career win for Head Coach J.J. Peirce.

Nearly double-digit years of coaching have garnered Coach Peirce the respect of his players through a dual highway of trust between coach and player. With his players believing in what he preaches, they provide their best possible play for him, culminating in a district championship for the team over last season.

But even as wins piled up and celebrations poured down from family and fans, Peirce paid little attention to the total number he had been building.

“I don’t pay attention to wins,” said Peirce bluntly. “I didn’t get this job for the wins. I got in to try to teach kids baseball because that’s what I enjoy doing.”

Peirce and his coaching staff have thoroughly achieved the goal of turning aspiring student-athletes into division-one-caliber players.

2024 District MVP Aidan Morgan was a War Eagle, and his strides into college, along with countless others under Peirce’s tenure, have thoroughly proven Oak Ridge’s ability to churn out talent.

Even the credit of the wins Peirce has gathered, he feels are largely owed to the players that he has turned into studs.

“It is a great feeling, but I don’t play anymore,” explained Peirce. “These guys got 200 wins, not me.”

Peirce believes that the players he has chosen for his teams and given the keys to success are a breed unto themselves. They are willing to learn, buy into the culture, and perform at their highest level. Peirce’s athletes rival anything 13-6A has thrown at them.

“I think it's the kind of athlete that I’ve had at every school,” said Peirce. “This is the third school I’ve been a head coach at and everywhere, they buy in and play hard. We’re disciplined and have good attitudes. That has nothing to do with me. I’m just trying not to mess anything up.”

Plenty of games remain for Peirce and the Oak Ridge baseball team in the 2025 season, and the hopes of repeating as 13-6A champions are well and alive.

Congratulations to Coach Peirce on a monumental career achievement.
