MCTXSheriff Investigates Road Rage Incident on Sawdust Rd
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- UPDATE: Detectives from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Division are investigating a road rage incident that occurred on Sawdust Road yesterday. The incident involved a red Ford F-150 pickup truck and a blue Chrysler Town and Country van. During the incident, the driver of the van pointed a firearm at the driver of the pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck then fired multiple rounds at the driver of the van, grazing his ear and striking the window of a nearby business. The driver of the van fled on foot but returned when law enforcement arrived.
Both individuals involved cooperated during the investigation, and neither person wished to pursue charges. However, conflicting statements regarding the sequence of events and self-defense claims necessitate further investigation. The investigation remains ongoing. Upon completion, the case will be presented to a grand jury for consideration. The names of the individuals involved are being withheld pending the outcome of the investigation.
On November 6, 2024, Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office District 2 Patrol Division responded to the 500 block of Sawdust Road after receiving reports of gunshots in the area. Preliminary investigation indicates that the incident stemmed from road rage, during which one male fired multiple shots at another male's vehicle. One of the individuals involved sustained a grazing wound to his ear and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies have located all parties involved, and they are fully cooperating with the investigation. This is an isolated incident involving only the two males and no additional suspects or victims are being sought.
Detectives are currently conducting interviews with those involved, as well as witnesses, and are canvassing the area for any video surveillance that may assist in the investigation. The investigation remains active, and the names of those involved will not be released at this time.
