The Woodlands Family YMCA Announces New Chairman of the Board for 2025

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Family YMCA is pleased to announce Brandon Hinman as the incoming Chairman of the Board. A dedicated community leader and experienced development professional, Hinman brings a deep passion for service and a strong commitment to the YMCA’s mission.

Hinman is a Director of Development for The Howard Hughes Corporation in the Houston region, where he has played a key role in managing commercial projects from site planning to construction since joining the company in 2018. His work has significantly contributed to developments in both The Woodlands and Bridgeland, Texas.

A resident of The Woodlands since 2016, Hinman has been actively involved with The Woodlands YMCA, serving on the board and currently leading the organization’s annual campaign as Chair. Under his leadership over the past two years, the campaign has helped expand access to YMCA programs and services, ensuring more individuals and families can benefit from the Y’s resources. In addition to his work with the YMCA, he is a dedicated supporter of Camp For All, a nonprofit providing barrier-free experiences for individuals with challenging illnesses or special needs.

“I am honored to step into this role and continue working alongside our dedicated team to strengthen the YMCA’s impact in our community,” said Hinman. “The Y is a vital resource for so many, and I look forward to advancing its mission of fostering youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.”

The dedicated team of board member volunteers serving alongside Brandon include: Steve Benson- Past Board Chair, Terri Arora, Jennifer Bailey, Doug Beckman, David Bond, Sean Carrie, Sharon Durio, Ross Folkenroth, Sondra Kenny, Jessica Ludvigsen, Loren Reiger, Brian Schmaltz, Jason Uthe, Theresa Wagaman, Tammy Walker, Rita Wiltz and Shellie Winkler.

A YMCA board member is a volunteer position responsible for providing strategic oversight and guidance to the YMCA by actively participating in decision-making, fundraising, community outreach, and ensuring the organization aligns with its mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, while upholding the YMCA's core values through regular board meetings and committee work.
