MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Montgomery County Residents: This is another friendly reminder that The Montgomery County Sheriff’s office will NEVER call and demand payment of any kind, including for bail money, for “warrants” for missing jury duty or for a family member that has been arrested.

There is a common scam where someone will call residents claiming to be a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputy or Officer using different names each time to make their threats seem more credible.

Here’s what to watch for:
• Scammers posing as Sheriff's Office employees, demanding payments and using threats of arrest to pressure you.
• Requests for payment via unusual methods such as Bitcoin or gift cards.
• Calls that appear to be from our phone number, making it look like the Sheriff's Office is contacting you.

If you suspect a scam, hang up and contact us directly at 936-538-5900, to verify any claims.
Be aware of other scams, such as fraudulent calls from supposed bonding companies asking for money to post bail. NEVER send money via apps like CashApp, Zelle, Venmo, or similar services without verifying the legitimacy of the request.

DO NOT:
• Rush to make payments or decisions under pressure.
• Share personal or payment information over the phone.
Please share this information with others and stay safe, Montgomery County!
