THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District (LSGCD) has been invited to have a standing agenda item at the SJRA GRP Review Committee Meeting since the origination of the SJRA GRP contract. According to the current framework of SJRA’s GRP contract, the amount of surface water that GRP Participants are allowed to receive is tied to groundwater management in Montgomery County. Lone Star is the groundwater manager in Montgomery County.

During the February GRP Review Committee Meeting where the District General Manager, Sarah Kouba, provided a general update from Lone Star about current activities and projects, the GRP Review Committee posed several technical questions surrounding mass balance, recharge, coring and infrastructure, and requested the General Manager return in March with technical consultants prepared to answer those questions.

Alongside Ms. Kouba, LSGCD's technical consultants answered questions, provided handouts/materials and engaged in open discussion with the SJRA GRP Review Committee, as requested. The materials/handouts are attached below. A copy of the recorded meeting can be found on the SJRA website at www.sjra.net under the SJRA GRP Review Committee meetings section. A lot of valuable information was shared. The District encourages you to watch the meeting if you were unable to attend in person.

LSGCD appreciates the standing agenda item on SJRA's GRP Review Committee meeting and looks forward to providing continual updates on groundwater management in Montgomery County.

The handouts from the March 24 meeting can be found at https://bit.ly/4hUmxt7.
