North Houston's City Place makes November noteworthy with the annual Dia de los Muertos celebration, Texas Bubblers, fitness classes, and more

SPRING, TX -- Fall is in full swing at north Houston’s City Place in November, where an exciting lineup of family-friendly activities will take place on and around the community’s central Plaza at 1250 Lake Plaza Drive – Spring, TX 77389.

The fourth annual Dia de Los Muertos weekend celebration makes a spirited two-day return, kicking off on November 1 with a complimentary Pix on the Plaza screening of popular Disney movie, Coco, about a young musician on a journey to unlock the story behind his family history. The alfresco movie night starts at 6:45 pm and includes complimentary popcorn while supplies last. Low-profile chairs, hand-held coolers and blankets are welcome.

The family fun continues on November 2 from 4-8 pm, when a ceremonial altar will be unveiled for the community to recognize their dearly departed loved ones. Guests can shop at the open-air Mercado, where a variety of curated vendors and artisans will showcase an assortment of upscale accessories, art, jewelry, clothing, handcrafted ornaments and more. Hands-on craft stations will allow guests to create flower crowns, pinatas and papel picado (traditional decorative folk art). Visitors will also enjoy activities such as face painting and a loteria, a popular Mexican game of chance. Lively performances will take center stage with a headline show from Bidi Bidi Banda, Austin’s first all-star Selena Tribute band, in addition to a traditional mariachi and pop-up dance performances.

On November 9 and 24, the Houston Humane Society Wildlife Center will host complimentary workshops in The Plaza that teach children how to preserve, protect and coexist with Houston’s urban wildlife. Each session also includes a special animal visit. The interactive and engaging programs include two, one-hour sessions starting at 9:30 and 10:45 am.

The FUN BUS makes a pit stop at City Place on November 10 from noon until 2 pm for an exciting mobile gym experience designed for kids ages 18 months to seven years. Featuring two enthusiastic instructors leading games, obstacle courses and themed activities like Shark Week or circus fun, kids can swing, bounce and climb around a colorful, refurbished school bus.

Complimentary, kid-friendly activities continue on The Plaza with the return of the Texas Bubblers on November 16, when guests can chase, catch and make eye-catching bubbles up to 10-feet wide. On November 24, Mr. Leo’s Puppet Show will return for a special holiday edition of unforgettable, playful and imaginative puppet adventure for children of all ages with complimentary shows at noon and 2 pm.

Precision Xecution Fitness brings complimentary strength and conditioning classes to The Plaza every Saturday – November 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 – with two, 45-minute sessions starting at 8 am and 8:45 am. Participants can join a vibrant community of individuals committed to achieving their fitness goals with the help of expert trainers, energizing music and a supportive atmosphere.

Fitness sessions continue with complimentary Yoga on the Plaza every Saturday – November 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 – at 10 am. The one-hour experience includes a meditation element and is the perfect way to jump start the weekend.
