THE WOODLANDS, TX – It’s our first full week of summer, and it’s already a scorcher. The devastating storms of last week would be a memory if many of us weren’t still without electricity or wifi. We at the Woodlands Online Weather Center encourage you to stay in cool indoor spaces when you can, and to wear proper attire and sunblock when you can’t.

Blindingly bright and horrendously hot… welcome to the week!

We’ve just hit our high today of 100, with a heat index that makes it feel like 112. The mostly clear skies will remain as the pressure plummets overnight, so you can enjoy counting the stars through the heat haze. Our overnight low – which (like most nights) actually hits just before sunrise tomorrow – will barely make it to under 80 degrees.

Tuesday early morning we’ll get a spate of clouds, but they won’t last long, and certainly won’t get in the way of the sun beating down on us as it helps bring the high temp to 102, with the humidity tacking on an additional nine degrees. Today – and indeed for most of the week – the winds will bounce around 5 and 10 mph, in a feeble attempt to bring a cooling caress to your brow. Around lunchtime, the pressure front that’s been climbing since early in the morning will do a turnaround, and we’ll see another bright day and cloudless night as we settle in for another overnight low of 79.

On Wednesday, we’ll have a second morning of partly cloudy skies, but soon enough the coverage will clear and we’ll be at the mercy of the sun’s rays all over again. At the risk of repeating ourselves, Wednesday will be identical to the day before.

Ditto for the day after: another morning of some partly cloudy skies then an afternoon of bright yellow sun, with moderate winds coming out of the southwest, with another 100-plus high accented with an additional ten degrees due to the humidity, followed by a cloudless night and a low that threatens to stay above 80.

Friday will start off identically, but as the day progresses, the slow buildup of clouds won’t go away; indeed, they’ll keep coming in at a leisurely but determined pace, making for another hot day of over 100, but the possibility of some wet stuff to tag along and maybe even increase over the weekend…

Stay tuned on Friday as we bring you Woodlands Weekend Weather.
